Investment Team

Mr. Willmore is the Chief Financial Officer at Surge Private Equity. With over fourteen years of finance, accounting, auditing, and financial reporting experience, his primary responsibilities are to implement the financial and operational strategies of Surge Private Equity and its portfolio companies as well as ensure timely and accurate accounting and reporting.
 
Before joining Surge Private Equity in October 2025, Mr. Willmore served as the Chief Accounting Officer for NexPoint Advisors, the VP of Finance for NexPoint Real Estate Finance, Inc., and the VP of Finance for NexPoint Residential Trust, Inc. Previously, Mr. Willmore had also served as a Senior Manager at NexPoint Residential Trust starting in March 2019 and was a Senior Manager at a former NexPoint affiliate from February 2017 to March 2019. As a Senior Manager, Mr. Willmore was responsible for the accounting, reporting and operations for hedge funds, separately managed accounts and private equity business lines. Mr. Willmore began his career at Deloitte & Touche LLP as an auditor in the Audit and Enterprise Risk Services Group.
 
Mr. Willmore received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in accounting from Brigham Young University. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant. Originally from Dallas, he enjoys the outdoors, playing basketball, weightlifting, and skiing.
